Clinical Study Details
Now enrolling: a clinical study testing flu vaccine in children 6 months to less than 9 years of age
Influenza is a highly infectious disease that occurs in epidemics throughout the winter months and can be severe in young children. The flu is characterised by the abrupt onset of respiratory and systemic symptoms, such as fever, myalgia, headache, severe malaise, non-productive cough, sore throat, and a runny nose.
Flu vaccines are designed to prevent the flu and may help keep babies and young children healthy during flu season. Vaccination is the most effective method to avoid contracting the flu.
This study will provide influenza vaccination to children from 6 months to less than 9 years of age who are otherwise healthy, have not had the influenza vaccine in the past 6 months and haven’t had a severe allergic reaction in the past when vaccinated.
The study is being conducted at these centres:
-
North Ipswich, QLD
-
Taringa, QLD
-
Wellers Hill, QLD
-
Victoria Point, QLD
Qualified participants and their parents will receive:
-
Influenza immunisation with this season’s quadrivalent vaccine
-
Reimbursement for time and travel
All study procedures are performed at NO COST.
