Clinical Study Details
Meningococcal disease is a highly contagious, life-threatening illness. Even with treatment, the condition can cause long-term disability such as loss of limbs, deafness, and brain damage.
There are five strains of meningococcal bacteria (A, B, C, W & Y) that most commonly cause meningococcal disease. Currently, there is no single vaccine available that includes protection against all five strains at once.
Here at AusTrials, we are testing an experimental combined vaccine which may provide protection against the five strains of meningococcal bacteria that can cause meningococcal disease.
You may be eligible for this study if:
- You are healthy and between 18 and 50 years old
- You have never received a vaccine against the A, C, W, and Y strains of meningococcal bacteria, or you received this vaccine at least four years ago
- You have never received a vaccine against the B strain of meningococcal bacteria
The study is being conducted at the following locations:
- Taringa, QLD
- Wellers Hill, QLD
The study involves four clinic visits and three phone calls over the span of eight or twelve months. Eligible participants will receive the vaccinations free of charge and will be compensated for their time and travel.
