Clinical Study Details
As we all know, COVID-19 is a respiratory illness that has rapidly spread across the globe. It presents similarly to Influenza, with symptoms including fever, headache, chills, muscle or joint pain, fatigue, cough, sore throat, and nasal congestion. For some people, infection with Influenza or COVID-19 can have severe consequences including hospitalisation or death.
Every year, Influenza vaccines are tailored to target the currently circulating strains of the virus. It is possible that we will need a similar approach to prevention of the COVID-19 virus, with an annual booster dose required to provide ongoing protection.
Here at AusTrials, we are conducting a clinical research study testing an investigational combination vaccine being developed to prevent both Influenza and COVID-19 infection. The goal of this study is to test the safety and immune response to the experimental combination vaccine using a single vaccination approach. Both the influenza and COVID-19 components of the investigational vaccine have separately demonstrated a favorable safety profile.
The investigational combination vaccine will be given as a ‘booster’ for those who have previously been vaccinated against COVID-19 or have previously been infected.
The study involves up to three vaccinations and eight visits to our dedicated research facility over the span of 6 months. Eligible participants will be compensated for their time and effort.
You may be eligible to participate if you:
- are 50 to 70 years of age
AND
- have completed a full course of COVID-19 vaccination at least 2 months ago
OR
- were confirmed to have been infected with COVID-19 at least 2 months ago
This study is being conducted at the following AusTrials location:
- Taringa, QLD
